My Country...

Dorothea Mackellar OBE (1885-1968), poétesse et écrivain australienne. Elle écrit My Country en 1908, un des poèmes les plus célèbre d'Australie. Elle a écrit la poésie évocatrice en tant qu'Australienne nostalgique à Londres. Rejetant les notions d'anglophilie de son époque, elle a déclaré :

J'aime un pays brûlé par le soleil,
Une terre de vastes plaines,
De chaines de montagne déchiquetées,
De sécheresse et d'inondations.
J'aime ses horizons lointains,
J'aime le bijou qu'est sa mer,
Sa beauté et sa terreur
C'est pour moi, la grande terre brune !.[1]
