Sir Ernest Mason Satow (1843-1929), diplomate britannique ayant travaillé surtout au Japon mais aussi en Chine, Siam, Uruguay et au Maroc. Il fut l'ami fidèle d'Itô Hirobumi.

Son fils Hisayoshi fut un des premiers grands botanistes japonais.
