L' étifoxine est un médicament utilisé pour traiter la nervosité et l'anxiété qui appartient à la famille des benzoxazine, une famille proche des benzodiazepines, mais dont le mécanisme d'action reste à préciser. Elle a des effets semblables aux benzodiazepines, mais est structurellement différente et est classée comme non benzodiazepine. Elle est plus efficace que le lorazepam comme un anxiolytique, mais a moins d'effets secondaires[1]. Elle peut être utilisé à avec les benzodiazepines afin de potentialiser leurs effets[2].

Elle est commercialisée par les laboratoires Biocodex sous le nom de Stresam ®.

Comme beaucoup d'anxiolytiques, l'étifoxine peut provoquer une somnolence.
