L'Euplecte vorabé (Euplectes afer), ou worabée est un passereau appartenant à la famille des Passeridae.

Il est l'un des tisserins les plus connus, et recherché comme oiseau de cage.

Description

Cet oiseau possède des couleurs vives. En plumage nuptial, le mâle est de couleur jaune d'or, avec la poitrine, la face et la gorge d'un noir brillant.

Répartition

Il vit en Afrique du Sud, Angola, Bénin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroun, République centrafricaine, République du Congo, République démocratique du Congo, Côte-d'Ivoire, Éthiopie, Gabon, Gambie, Ghana, Guinée, Guinée-Bissau, Jamaïque, Japon, Kenya, Lesotho, Libéria, Mali, Mauritanie, Mozambique, Namibie, Niger, Nigéria, Ouganda, Portugal, Porto Rico, Sénégal, Sierra Leone, Soudan, Tanzanie, Tchad, Togo, Zambie et Zimbabwe.
