Exeter est une ville de l'État du Rhode Island aux États-Unis. En 2000 sa population était de 6045 habitants pour une superficie de 151,2 km². Cette ville fut fondée en 1641 et incorporée en 1742. Exeter fut fondée sur des vacant lands, achetées aux indiens Narragansetts. La cohabitaion avec les indiens fut problématique jusqu'au massacre des Narragansetts à la fin du XVIIe siècle. La ville compte un millier d'habitants en 1740.
