Folioscope

Folioscope photographique

Un folioscope, ou feuilletoscope, ou flip book en anglais, ou Daumenkino en allemand, est composé d'un ensemble d'images très peu différentes dans leurs contenus dont la succession rapide permet d'imiter la synthèse d'un mouvement par la persistance rétinienne, mais ne peux la reproduire.

Les images sont des dessins ou des photographies, rassemblés en un livret qu'on feuillette rapidement d'un doigt en cornant un côté de page, ou bien accrochés à un cylindre que l'on fait manuellement tourner à l'aide d'une manivelle et feuilletés par un onglet fixe.

Il est à rapprocher des jouets optiques du XIXe siècle qui ont précédé l'invention du cinéma.

Un folioscope simple base est facile à réaliser sur les coins des feuilles d'un cahier.
