Gask Ridge est le nom actuel donné à une série de fortifications édifiée par les Romains au cœur de l’Écosse dans les années 70 et 80, soit 40 et 60 ans avant les mur d’Hadrien et d’Antonin. Bien que ce ne fut pas un mur continu, il a pu être la première frontière terrestre fortifiée de l'Empire Romain.

Les fortifications s’étalent à la limite de la zone montagneuse des Highlands, dans le Perthshire et l’Angus, protégeant ainsi les terres relativement plus fertiles du sud et de l’est de l’Écosse. Les murs d’Hadrien et d’Antonins furent bâtis plus au sud et furent nettement plus court, tirant partie des déchirements de la côte britannique.

Le Gask Ridge est composé d’une série de forts et de fortins comportant des tours de signalisation. Sa relation avec les forts du Glen, un ensemble de forts comprenant la forteresse légionnaire de Inchtuthil et d’autres forts alentours n’est pas clairement établie.

Tacite nous rapporte que Julius Agricola menait bataille dans cette zone vers 80 ap. J.-C.. Les pièces de monnaie les plus récentes datant de 86, il est possible que les forts ne furent occupés que pendant une durée maximum de 6 ans. Cependant, des recherches archéologiques récentes ont montré que les forts formant le Gask Ridge furent reconstruits dans le temps, parfois deux fois, sans preuves d’une destruction guerrière antérieure. De nouvelles fouilles pourraient lever le voile sur cette apparente contradiction.
