George Joshua Richard Monbiot (né le 27 janvier 1963) est un journaliste, éditorialiste, auteur, universitaire et activiste environnemental et politique au Royaume-Uni, qui écrit chaque semaine dans le quotidien The Guardian.
Il a très récemment pris position pour l'énergie nucléaire, arguant que la catastrophe de Fukushima a surtout mis en évidence qu'une centrale vétuste et mal entretenu pouvait encaisser un séisme et un tsunami exceptionnel (le dernier séisme supérieur à 8.5 au Japon aurait eu lieu il y a près de 1200 ans) avec des dégâts sur l'environnement et l'homme très limité. Il dénonce aussi les mensonges des activistes sur l'effet des faibles niveau d'irradiation et sur le potentiel réelle de énergie renouvelable[1],[2]. Il compare les méthodes antiscientifiques des antinucléaires à celles utilisés par les négationnistes du changement climatique[3].
