Il a franchi 2,33 m à Pereira (Colombie) le 17/10/1994, ville située en altitude (1,411 m) ce qui confère un léger avantage pour le saut en hauteur.
Sa meilleure performance en salle est de 2,27 m réalisé au Pirée (Grèce) le 24/02/1999.
Le site de l'IAAF (Fédération International d'Athlétisme) ne fait pas erreur, il a sauté 2,20 m cette année à Medellín le 25/04/2009, ce qui à 40 ans est une performance de tout premier ordre.
