God Forbid est un groupe de Metalcore américain créé en 1996.

Histoire

Fer de lance de la mouvance Metalcore aux côtés de Chimaira, Lamb of God ou bien Killswitch Engage, le groupe God Forbid se forme dans le New-Jersey en 1996 sous l'impulsion du guitariste Dallas Coyle (ex-Faint 13) et du batteur Corey Pierce. Ils sont très vite rejoints par Byron Davis au chant, John Outcalt à la basse, et finalement par Doc Coyle à la guitare, frère de Dallas.

Le combo sort un premier album en 1999, Reject the Sickness, et entame des tournées qui, en plus de les faire connaître, leur permettront d'obtenir une certaine réputation en « live ». Trois ans plus tard, le quintet sort Determination et l'EP Out of Misery qui conforteront sa position de groupe incontournable de la nouvelle scène américaine.

Il faut attendre 2004 et la sortie de Gone Forever pour voir le groupe sortir des frontières des États-Unis. Encensé par les critiques, le groupe part en Europe avec Slipknot, Chimaira et Fear Factory pour faire connaître son troisième album. À peine un an plus tard sort IV : Constitution of Treason, disque plus sombre, plus fort, mais aussi plus mélodique.

Au cours de l'année 2009 sort le cinquième et dernier album studio en date du groupe. L'opus est intitulé Earthsblood.
