La jauge brute est une mesure de la capacité de transport d'un navire. Elle s'exprime en tonneaux de jauge brute (ou tjb), ou en mètres cubes. Un tonneau de jauge brute vaut 100 pieds cubes, soit environ 2,832 m3. Elle s'exprime également en UMS (voir article tonnage).

En France, l'administration en charge du calcul de jauge est le service des douanes, la jauge nette sert de barème à l'évaluation des taxes portuaires et de pilotage. La jauge brute sert à l'application de certaines réglementations maritimes (exemple : délivrance de brevets).
