Un hazzan ou chazzan (« chantre ») est un officiant qui, expert en cantillation liturgique des textes hébreux, aide le rabbin à diriger la prière chantée de la synagogue. Bien entraîné dans les arts vocaux, il connait aussi toutes les subtilités grammaticales de la cantillation.

La direction des offices religieux judaïques obéit à des règles traditionnelles, mais les sources rabbiniques classiques ne fournissent pas l'idée d'un chantre professionnel. Dans le judaïsme réformé, cette fonction peut être exercée par une femme[1].

Les offices juifs ont leur propre section, le siddour, et les prières des offices y sont respectueusement recueillies.
