Heshvan (hébreu : חֶשְׁוָן ou heshvan), de son nom complet marhesvan (hébreu : מַרְחֶשְׁוָן mar’heshvan), est le 8e mois du calendrier hébreu selon le décompte biblique, et le second de l'année civile juive. Dans le Tanakh, on l’appelle Boul (voir par exemple I Rois 6:38).
C'est un mois d'automne de 29 jours, à l'exception des années "complètes", où il a 30 jours. Heshvan tombe généralement en octobre–novembre du calendrier grégorien.
Au vu de son étymologie Akkadienne (wara'hsamnu, lit. "huitième mois"), il semble que le מ et le ו aient été inversés, après quoi les deux premières lettres מַר (mar) ont été ensuite réinterprétées comme le mot hébreu signifiant "amer" (cf. maror), faisant allusion au fait que le mois ne contient ni fête ni jeûne, sauf chez les Beta Israël (cf. infra). Mar peut aussi signifier "petite goutte [d'eau]" (Is. 40:15).
Célébrations
- Le 7 'Heshvan, la prière Vètèn tal oumatar ("donne la rosée et la pluie") est ajoutée à la Amidah en Israël. Si aucune pluie ne sont le 17 de ce mois, des prières spéciales sont rajoutées [1].

- Le 17 'Heshvan, le Roi Salomon acheva la construction du premier Temple de Jérusalem, qui ne fut cependant pas inauguré avant le mois de Tishri suivant, lors du festival de Souccot.
