Hey Joe est une chanson américaine populaire des années 1960 qui est devenue un standard du rock, notamment après sa reprise par Jimi Hendrix. Généralement créditée à Billy Roberts[1], son auteur original est inconnu. Elle raconte l'histoire d'un homme qui fuit après avoir tiré sur sa femme.

Historique

Billy Roberts est le premier artiste qui en a fait un succès en 1962. Hey Joe a été un tube aux États-Unis pour les groupes The Leaves et Love (en 1966 sur leur premier album), mais c'est la version de Tim Rose en 1965, que reprendra Jimi Hendrix en 1966, qui popularisa cette chanson de manière planétaire et définitive.
