Hypnotic ou Doctor Sleep est un film britannique réalisé par Nick Willing, sorti en 2002 inspiré du livre de Madison Smartt Bell.

Synopsis

Le docteur Michael Strother, dont la spécialité est de faire arrêter de fumer ses patients en employant l'hypnose, a la vision d'une petite fille flottant dans les eaux d'une rivière alors qu'il traite Janet Losey, une inspecteur de Scotland Yard. Celle-ci reconnaît la petite fille de la vision, Grace, qui vient d'échapper à un tueur en série mais s'est enfermée dans le mutisme. Janet demande à Michael d'employer l'hypnose sur Grace afin qu'elle leur dise ce qu'elle sait sur l'homme qui a tenté de la tuer. L'enquête qui va suivre va les conduire sur les traces d'un homme qui pense avoir découvert le secret de l'immortalité.
