Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya

Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya (1292- 1350) est un célèbre philosophe[1]arabe, chercheur, théologien et juriste sunnite musulman, apparenté au madhhab hanbalite, qui a vécu à Damas.

Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya naquit à Damas en 1292 durant la période mamelouke. Son père était également un homme de science qui dirigeait une école religieuse de Damas nommée Al Jawzyah (car son père était directeur de l'école théologique Al Jawziya dont il prendra lui même la direction plus tard) d'où la signification en arabe de son nom (ibn Qayyim Al Jawzyah = fils du directeur de la Jawzyah).

Il a été très influencé par son maître Ibn Taymiyyah qu'il a accompagné jusqu'à sa mort en 1328 à tel point que certains le considèrent comme le vulgarisateur d'Ibn Taymiyyah[2].
Il a écrit de nombreux ouvrages religieux (près d'une centaine) dont :

  • Zâd ul-Ma'âd fî hadyi khayr il-'ibâd,
  • Al-Kâfiyat ush-shâfiyah fi-l-intisâri lil-firqat in-nâjiyah (poème en plusieurs milliers de vers),
  • Ighâthatu-llahfân min mmasâyid ish-shaytân
  • Al-Fawâyid.
  • Shifâ' al-'âlîl.

Il a également écrit plusieurs ouvrages critiquant les sectes dites « égarées » de l'islam.

Il est devenu aujourd'hui une référence pour les étudiants en sciences religieuses et il est communément dénommé « le savant du cœur », en raison de ses travaux précurseurs relatifs au comportement humain et à l'éthique.
