L'illuviation (à ne pas confondre avec éluviation) est l'accumulation progressive dans une couche du sol (ou horizon) de diverses substances déposées par l'infiltration des eaux (percolation).
Habituellement, l'argile, le fer, l'humus se lessivent et forment des lignes de cohérence et de couleur différentes. Ces lignes sont importantes pour l'étude de la composition et l'âge des strates rocheuses.
