Alcoolate

Structure d'un alkoxyde.

Un alcoolate (ou alkoxyde) est la base conjuguée d'un alcool. La formule générale est donc R-O. Le contre-ion est un atome métallique.

Synthèse

Les alcoolates peuvent être synthétisés par réduction de métaux alcalins, tel le sodium (Na).

Réactions

Les alcoolates peuvent réagir avec des composés halogénés pour former des éthers, par la synthèse de Williamson :
