John Giles
Michael John « Johnny » Giles (né le 6 novembre 1940 à Dublin) est un ancien footballeur irlandais des années 60 et 70.
Surnommé « Gilesy », il jouait milieu de terrain dans la grande équipe de Leeds United de l'époque, aux côtés des Billy Bremner et Peter Lorimer.
Il aura passé 12 ans à Leeds, disputant 521 matches et marquant 114 buts.
Il a aussi joué à Manchester United et à West Bromwich Albion en tant qu'entraîneur-joueur.
Il a porté le maillot de l'équipe d'Irlande à 59 reprises et marqué 5 buts. Il est considéré, à l'instar de joueurs comme Liam Brady ou Roy Keane, comme l'un des meilleurs footballeurs irlandais de tous les temps.
Après son expérience d'entraîneur-joueur à West Bromwich, Giles a entraîné le club irlandais de Shamrock Rovers, de 1977 à 1982.
Il est aujourd'hui consultant football pour une radio irlandaise.
