Katherine « Katie » Ann Couric (née le 7 janvier 1957 à Arlington (Virginie) aux États-Unis), est une journaliste américaine. Elle se fit connaître dans le monde entier pour être la première femme américaine à parvenir à la présentation, en solo, d'un grand journal du soir, en l'occurrence CBS Evening News, sur CBS News, de 2006 à 2011, date à laquelle elle part à ABC pour présenter un nouveau talk show.

Today, sur NBC

De 1991 à 2006, Katie Couric a présente le magazine Today, l'émission matinale de la chaîne américaine NBC.

CBS Evening News, sur CBS

Le 5 septembre 2006, elle devient la première femme à présenter un grand journal du soir en solo, le CBS Evening News, sur une chaîne nationale américaine. Elle le présente jusqu'en juin 2011.

Katie Couric se fait dès lors remarquer pour ses interviews sans détour et sans complexe, notamment ses entretiens avec la co-listière de John McCain à l'élection présidentielle américaine de 2008, Sarah Palin.

Katie Couric sera la seule femme à présenter en solo l'un des journaux télévisés les plus regardés au monde jusqu'en décembre 2009, date à laquelle Diane Sawyer devient la présentatrice d'ABC World News

Au mois de mai 2011, Couric annonce au cours d'une édition de son journal qu'elle quittera CBS pour le réseau ABC où elle va animer un magazine d'information.

Talk show sur ABC prévu en 2011

Le 9 juin 2011, on apprend qu'elle animera un talk-show. Elle annonce par conséquent quitter CBS Evening News; Scott Pelley la remplace à la présentation du rendez-vous d'information du soir.

Classement

En 2007, elle est classée comme la 63e femme la plus puissante au monde par le magazine Forbes.

Apparitions dans des films et des séries

Dans l'épisode 9 de la saison 11 de South Park « Gros Caca », l'unité pour mesurer les excréments humains est le « Katie Courac », allusion évidente à la journaliste.

Elle prêta aussi sa voix au personnage Katie Current dans le film Gang de requins.

Le 6 février 2011 elle apparaît dans un épisode de Glee où elle joue son propre rôle. Elle avoue alors être une vraie GLEEK.
