Amoy (Chinois: 淘化大同; pinyin: táo huà dà tóng, abbr. 淘大) est une entreprise de Hong Kong qui produit principalement des sauces chinoises et des produits surgelés de type dim sum. L'entreprise est le leader sur le marché de la sauce soja à Hong Kong et en Angleterre.

Etymologie

Amoy (Xia men, 厦门) est l'ancienne traduction anglo-saxonne pour la ville chinoise de Xiamen, province du Fujian. Cette traduction tire son origine de la prononciation de cette ville en dialecte de Min Nan originaire de cette région.

Histoire

Amoy fut fondée en 1908 à Xiamen en Chine, à l'origine l'entreprise produisait du lait et de la sauce soja. Plus tard, en 1928 l'entreprise déménagea à Hong Kong pour son climat plus propice aux affaires et aux échanges. En 1991 Amoy fut rachetée par Danone et commença alors la production de produits surgelés de type Dim sum. La société fut ensuite rachetée en 2006 par le groupe japonais Ajinomoto, à qui elle appartient toujours.
