Synopsis

Lorsque Sylvia Stickles, une femme plutôt coincée, se cogne la tête lors d'un banal accident, la métamorphose est radicale : au grand dam de son entourage, elle se transforme en créature lubrique. Le responsable de ce brusque changement est Ray Ray, un gourou du sexe bien résolu à libérer les pulsions les plus inavouables chez les habitants de Baltimore.

  • Dans A dirty shame, un hommage à Jim Morrison, chanteur des Doors, s'y est glissé. En 1969, ce dernier aurait dévoilé son sexe lors d'un concert à Miami, soulevant chez les bien-pensants un véritable tollé. Des marches au nom de la décence furent organisées. Dans le film, c'est également le cas, les plus puritains s'organisent et manifestent pour le retour à l'ordre et à la pureté.
  • John Waters a une vision bien particulière de son dernier opus : "En fait, je pense vraiment que A dirty shame est un film féministe, un peu curieux certes, mais qui l'est vraiment : Sylvia sort de sa nouvelle liberté sexuelle grandie, plus puissante, plus accomplie."
